When Spike, also known as Simon, was given the nickname "Spike" by his friend Ken the Kookaburra, he was initially offended. However, he soon realised the irony of the situation. Despite his nickname, Spike's hair is actually the softest and smoothest in all of Australia, making him an unlikely echidna.
